08/16/2017

by: Kyle Swartz

Tequila Ciudad is made from tequilana weber and blue variety agave. Launching initially with the three traditional styles — blanco, reposado and anejo — Ciudad is currently available in 27 states with Deutsch Distributors, and is currently in all Total Wine and More stores nationally. It is kosher.

Ciudad Blanci is unaged, distilled in copper stills and immediately bottled. Aromas include bright highland agave, fresh grass and citrus, plus green fruits like mango peel and pineapple, the company says, with tastes of lightly bitter flavors, with smoky notes, citrus predominance, herbal notes like mint, plus nuances of spices like cinnamon. The suggested retail price is $52.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

Ciudad Reposado is aged 11 months in American white oak. Aromas include fruit notes such as banana and green fruits, with light sweet vanilla and honey, the company says, plus notes of wood from the American white oak and fresh highland agave. Flavors include smooth Oak flavor, with tastes of honey and vanilla, slightly smoked. The suggested retail price is $56.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

Ciudad Añejo is aged 24 months in French oak. Aromas include wood notes that mix walnut and vanilla with slightly smoky coffee notes, the company reports, plus layered sweet tones of honey, maple and raisins, cooked agave, with fresh herbal scent. On the palate are soft notes of French oak, walnut, caramel and vanilla; slightly bitter, with presence of cooked agave, a mixture of spices, like ginger; fruit notes like apple and pear. The suggested retail price is $59.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
