First launched in its native Spanish market early last year, the sherry vermouth Lustau Vermut debuts in the U.S. this spring.

The product’s recipe combines sherry wines and botanicals. Lustau Vermut originates from two family traditions: The House of Lustau – winemakers for over a century; and the Caballero family – blenders of spirits since 1830.

The base sherry wine is a blend of a sweet Pedros Ximenez and a dry nutty Amontillado, both aged separately for 10 years in their own soleras at the House of Lustau cellars in Jerez.

The botanicals are macerated separately for aroma extraction. Wormwood, gentian, coriander and orange peel notes stand out among the array of fragrant plant, fruit and spice aromas, the company says, laced with citrus and herbs over a smoky wood background. The finish includes nutty notes.

Lustau Vermut is imported by Europvin USA. It retails for $22.00 per 750-ml. bottle.
