Rogue Ales & Spirits has unveiled its new Oregon Single Malt Whiskey.
This American single malt aged five years. Rogue’s spirits are made from ingredients grown on Rogue Farms in the Willamette and Tygh Valleys, distilled on a 550-gallon still and aged in the air of the Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon.
“Ocean aging is where a lot of the magic happens,” says Rogue Distiller Jake Holshue. “The Single Malt Whiskey breathes in the steady, cool, coastal air for five years, which influences its flavor profile, making the spirit truly unique, and proudly rooted in Newport.”
The aroma is soft and malty with a hint of smoke and ocean air, the company says, before flavors of candied lemons, dark cherries and cocoa. The finish is of baking spices and soft malts, with hints of smoke.
Rogue Spirits Oregon Single Malt Whiskey is 80 proof. The suggested retail price is $64.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
