Casamigos Tequila has announced a new permanent mezcal line extension.

The news comes just over half a year after the brand sold to Diageo for $1 billion. The original line of tequilas launched in 2013, founded by actor George Clooney along with Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. Sales had doubled the past two years, and the founders have pledged to remain involved.

The first mezcal in this new line is Casamigos Mezcal. Made in Santiago Matatlán, the spirit is 100% espadin agave and 40% ABV.

Casamigos Mezcal is unaged, and has flavors of tamarind, pomegranate, banana and mango, the company says.

“There’s nothing like it on the market,” says Clooney and Gerber in a statement. “We’ve created a mezcal that is as good as our tequila. Casamigos Mezcal is uniquely smooth, easy to drink and smoked to perfection.”

Available nationwide, Casamigos Mezcal has a suggested retail price of $59.99 per 750-ml. bottle. It will also be available in a 1-L. format.
