The Dalmore To Release 40-Year-Old Whisky

09/19/2017

by: The Staff

The Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is set to release The Dalmore 40 Year Old.

Just 750 bottles of The Dalmore 40 will be released this year around the world through selected whisky specialist retailers, luxury bars and restaurants.

The liquid maturated in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before transfer into 30-year-old Gonzalez Byass Matsualem oloroso sherry butts. It’s then finished in first-fill bourbon barrels.

The result is a liquid featuring aromas of Colombian coffee and marmalade, the company says. On the palate, gingerbread and honey is followed by an aftertaste of Sanguinello blood oranges over ripe Bramley apples and liquorice sticks.

Presented in a decanter designed by the French crystal house Baccarat, the hand-blown decanters are adorned with The Dalmore’s iconic 12 point Royal Stag emblem created by Royal Warrant Holders Hamilton & Inches.

The Dalmore 40 Year Old is 40% ABV and retails for a suggested price of $7,500 per 750-ml. bottle.

The release marks the culmination of a year of celebrations for Master Distiller Richard Paterson’s 50th year in the whisky industry. “With each new release I strive for depth and complexity, pushing the boundaries of whisky making and building on the knowledge and skills passed down from my predecessors,” says Paterson.
