Writers Tears Irish Whiskey

12/21/2015

by: The Staff

U.S. importer Palm Bay International and family owned Walsh Whiskey Distillery have introduced Writers Tears Copper Pot, an Irish whiskey.

Writers Tears is named for the esteemed Irish writers and playwrights of the 19th century who sought inspiration and comfort in their local watering holes, the company says.

Writers Tears is produced using distillates from the copper pot only (no grain) — the same method used by original 19th century Irish distillers. It is a vatting of single malt and single pot still whiskies distilled from 100% Irish barley. Triple distilled with an abv of 40%, non-peated and matured and aged in American oak bourbon casks, Writers Tears offers aromas of apple with hints of vanilla and honey, the company says, that lead to a spiced palate of ginger and butterscotch. It culminates in a finish with subtle notes of milk chocolate and almonds, the company says.

Writers Tears is currently available in NY, PA, MN, DC and MA for a suggested retail price of $39.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
