Templeton Rye Creates Caribbean Rum Cask Finish

09/15/2020

Templeton Rye Caribbean Rum Cask Finish

Templeton Rye Whiskey has launched Caribbean Rum Cask Finish, the 2020 release in their annual Barrel Finish Series.

This American straight rye whiskey originally matured for five years in American oak barrels. The whiskey then finished in ex-dark rum casks from Jamaica.

“We are thrilled to be launching the second limited-edition expression in our Barrel Finish Series following the success of our Maple Cask Finish release last fall,” says Tim Grimes, senior brand ambassador of Templeton Rye. “Quality was key as we wanted to ensure that our secondary maturation would impart the rum characteristics and flavors that we envisioned in the whiskey. We are delighted with the result and look forward to sharing with our fans.”

On the nose are ripe bananas, pineapples, aromatic spices and sweet oak, the company reports. The palate follows with oak, orange zest, black pepper and dark chocolate. Finally, on the finish are golden raisins and banana bread, fruit and wood.

Templeton Rye Caribbean Rum Cask Finish is non chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV. It is available in limited quantities for a suggested retail price of $44.99-$49.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

This follows the recent release of Templeton Rye Barrel Strength Whiskey.
