Single malt Scotch whisky producer Oban has launched Oban 15 Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish.
This aged in European Oak Butts and American Oak Hogshead Barrels before finishing for more than four years in Oloroso and Palo Cortado Sherry Casks.
On the nose, Oban 15 Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish opens with aromas of dried raisin and orchard fruit, the distillery reports, giving way to charred orange rind and lemon peel. The whisky’s palate has notes of burnt sugar, cinder toffee and a hint of almonds, while European Oak imparts tannins, pepper and spice, culminating in a finish of brown sugar.
Oban 15 Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish was inspired by the flavors and traditions of southern Spain’s Andalusia region, marrying sweet dried fruits, citrus and Oban’s signature maritime salinity. It pairs with aged meats, nutty cheeses and briny olives, according to the distillery.
