The Espresso Martini shows no signs of slowing down, but it’s not the only dessert cocktail in town. Indaco Italian restaurant in Atlanta has been serving up the Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli on their dessert menu, and it has proven to be a crowd favorite — just like movie the inspired it.
The Scotch-based cocktail’s smoky, nutty and slightly sweet profile provide something a bit more indulgent but not too heavy. Chicory liqueur brings an earthy edge that balances the sweetness from amaretto and oloroso sherry, while orange blossom creates a bright, aromatic finish.
Much like a cannoli, Take the Gun, Leave the Cannoli has a complex, layered flavor profile with nutty, floral, and bittersweet notes, says Jordan Morton, beverage program development manager for the restaurant’s parent company, Indigo Road Hospitality Group. The Glasgow Scotch adds a boldness and smoke element, which led to the cocktail being named after an iconic line in The Godfather, and ties in to Indaco’s Italian flare.
