Every day is pretty much Margarita Day, but when Feb. 22 falls on a Saturday, look out! There are so many good riffs on the ’Rita so for this National Margarita Day we’re highlighting five colorful choices.
Hibiscus Margarita
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Mezcal Unión Uno
- ½ oz. Cointreau
- ½ oz. Ancho Reyes chile liqueur
- ½ oz. Hibiscus-cardamom syrup
- 1 oz Pomegranate juice
- ¾ oz. Lime juice
Instructions
- Rim an Old-Fashioned glass with pink peppercorn salt.
- Add all ingredients to the shaker.
- Add ice and shake.
- Double strain into rimmed glass.
- Garnish with pineapple triangle.
Notes
Frozen Watermelon Margarita
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- 2 oz. Blanco Tequila
- 1 oz. Fresh Lime juice
- ¾ oz. Watermelon syrup
- 7 Ice cubes
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend.
- Pour into Margarita glass rimmed with chili salt.
- Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge

Passion Fruit Margarita
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz. Ilegal Joven mezcal
- ¾ oz. Agave
- ¾ oz. Lime
- ¾ oz. Fresh passion fruit syrup
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously
- Dump the contents into a rocks glass with a Tajin rim.

Mazatlán-style Margarita
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz. Tequila
- Lime juice to taste
- A few fresh cilantro leaves
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of pepper
- 1 Tomatillo
- Cucumber with skin
Instructions
- Place the tequila, lime juice, cilantro, salt, pepper, tomatillo, and cucumber into a blender.
- Blend all the ingredients until smooth.
- Serve the cocktail in a glass rimmed with hibiscus salt.
- Garnish with cucumber slices and a cooked shrimp.
