Royal Salute Scotch has announced the debut of its rare and limited-edition bottle in honor of King Charles III: Royal Salute Coronation of King Charles III Edition. The Royal Salute story dates back to 1953, when young Princess Elizabeth ascended the throne and has marked each significant event in the lives of the British Monarch.
The latest release celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III is a blend of more than 53 rare malt and grain whiskies, to reflect the year Royal Salute was first crafted. It’s housed in a Dartington Crystal decanter, tinted in a deep sapphire blue hue, reminiscent of the precious stones set within the Imperial State Crown, the company says.
And in keeping with Royal Salute’s signature style, the decanter is presented in a wooden box inspired by Westminster Abbey, with details intricately chiseled into the wood, paying tribute to the historic setting of British Coronation ceremonies since 1066. The jewels and crests of each country forming Great Britain were the inspiration for the artwork inside the gift box, symbolizing the unity under the Crown and enduring solidarity between the nations.
With just 500 bottles available around the world, 56 of which are in the U.S., you might expect to pay a king’s ransom for the whisky. And you will: The suggested retail price of the Coronation of King Charles III edition is $25,000.
