Código 1530 has launched Estate Harvest Still Strength Blanco Tequila.
“Estate Harvest” means this was made with only agave grown on Código 1530-owned land. In the tequila industry, less than 1% of tequila brands own the entire process from “field to bottle,” the company says.
Because of this control and oversight, Founder and Co-CEO Fede Vaughan, decided that it was time to harvest their Blue Weber Agave plants, after waiting six years until the plants were fully mature. The piñas averaged about 100 pounds each.
Código 1530’s expressions age in French white oak wine barrels. After cooking the estate harvest using juice from the first press, it then fermented in small batches directly in the French oak wine barrels. The fermented juice is then distilled at Código 1530’s dedicated distillery (NOM 1616).
The result is aromas of cherry blossom and honey with the salinity of olive, the company reports. Flavors include cooked agave and citrus, plus black pepper and notes of nutty pumpkin seed and vegetal mint.
The bottles are comprised of 100% recycled Mexican glass, and made by Mexico by artisans. Since Estate Harvest Still Strength Blanco was created from field to bottle on Codigo 1530’s owned land, the lack agave transport helped reduce the carbon footprint.
This limited-edition Estate Harvest Still Strength Blanco is 90 proof, and retails for $79 per 750-ml. bottle. It is available now at codigo1530.com and retail locations.
