The emerging whiskey brand Smooth Ambler, known for its transparency in sourcing and blending, has launched its Founder’s Series.
This is the distillery’s own distillate, unsourced. The series begins with Smooth Ambler Founder’s Series Cask Strength Rye Recipe.
This whiskey is non-chill filtered, and comprised of 88% rye and 12% malted barley. It has notes of toasted oak, toffee, sweet black tea and subtle herb spice, the company says, before a finish of nap cookies. Aromas include brown sugar, rye spice and toffee.
At this time, only six batches of Smooth Ambler Founder’s Series Cask Strength Rye Recipe will roll out this year, with fewer than 400 total cases of product available nationwide.
Smooth Ambler Cask Strength Rye Recipe reaches liquor stores this November in CA, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC and TX, for a suggested retail price of $54.99 per bottle.
“We’re proud about how we paved a more open and transparent conversation around scouting and blending while also producing great whiskeys,” says John Little, founder of Smooth Ambler Spirits. “The milder West Virginia climate and infusion cooking method the Founder’s Series Cask Strength Rye Recipe makes for a unique whiskey. We couldn’t be more excited to finally showcase what we like to call our ‘homemade juice.’ This rye is one you’ll be proud to share with friends and family.”
