Writers’ Tears Announces Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

Writers’ Tears – Single Pot Still Irish whiskey

Walsh Whiskey has announced the launch of Writers’ Tears – Single Pot Still Irish whiskey.

After aging in bourbon barrels, this triple-distilled, single pot still whiskey matured further in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks from Spain and Florio Marsala Hogsheads from Sicily.

Writers’ Tears – Single Pot Stil is 46% ABV.

The whiskey’s nose delivers candied sweetness and toffee apples, the company reports, while the palate features notes of pot still spice and the dessert-like qualities of PX Sherry, finishing with a light chewiness.

After initially launching this October in Europe, the new release will reach U.S. shelves in 2022.

“Writers’ Tears is a pot still-led range of whiskey and this single pot still expression cements that,” says Walsh Whiskey Co-founder, Bernard Walsh. “On this occasion, we are majoring on a classic pot still combination by pairing it with American bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks from Spain, and Florio Marsala Hogsheads from Sicily — a decadent combination if ever there was one!”

The new expression joins the Walsh Whiskey portfolio of 21 whiskeys.

“The spirit serves as a canvas which I layer up with luxuriant and rare flavors to achieve the calibre of finish that our whiskeys, after 22 expressions in 22 years, are now internationally renowned for,” Walsh says.

The suggested retail price is around $70 per 750-ml. bottle.
