Freddie Noe Launches Little Book Chapter 5, ‘The Invitation’

08/16/2021

by: Melissa Dowling

Freddie Noe's Little Book Chapter 5: “The Invitation.”

Turning the page into 2021, Little Book Chapter 5: “The Invitation” is the fifth chapter in 8th Generation Beam Distiller Freddie Noe’s Little Book Whiskey annual release series.

This year’s iteration contains four straight whiskies of varying ages, distillation styles and resulting flavor profiles. Company-provided tasting notes are as follows:

  • A 2-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon comes off the still and goes into the barrel at a lower proof. With an almost creamy mouthfeel, sweet grain flavor presents itself, creating a complexity for such a young age.
  • A 3-Year-Old malted 100% rye whiskey brings in peppery notes to the final blend common to rye, with complexity of toasted grain/cereal and a hint of nuttiness.
  • A 5-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon has hints of vanilla. A complexity of corn sweetness on the nose and a smooth finish help balance the flavors from the younger whiskies and the 15-year-old bourbon.
  • The 15-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon provides a heavier barrel flavor. This liquid specifically adds a lot of complexity in the final blend.

Altogether this creates a palate with flavors of caramel and toasted bread, with brown sugar undertones and a touch of sweetness, the company reports.

Little Book Chapter 5 “The Invitation” is 116.8 proof.

This new release is available nationwide in limited quantities beginning this month. The suggested retail price is $124.99 for a 750-ml. bottle.

This follows the 2020 version, Little Book Chapter 4: “Lessons Honored.”

Launched in 2017, Little Book is the first product released by Freddie Noe, son of current Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe, and grandson of legendary Beam Master Distiller, Booker Noe. An annual, limited release series, Little Book features new blends each year, chosen by Freddie.

Little Book derives its name from Freddie’s childhood nickname, given to him by his family for the qualities he shared with his granddad, Booker Noe.
