Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine

07/14/2021

by: Kyle Swartz

Barton & Guestier has introduced to the U.S. market a new, no-alcohol French wine, the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine.

With the introduction of the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine, B&G enters the fast-growing low/no alcohol category in the U.S. This growth is driven both by health and wellness concerns from consumers, and innovation in the space, yielding an influx of new products.

“It was important for B&G to complete its portfolio with this non-alcohol sparkling wine, to offer a high-quality, festive drink for people to enjoy in professional environments, family events and anyone with health concerns,” says Carlos Varela, COO of BGPL USA. “That way, everyone can raise their wine glass.”

Production of the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine begins with traditional winemaking processes, utilizing muscat grapes from the Mediterranean coast. After the grapes are crushed, they undergo a cold soak, pre-fermentation maceration to extract the maximum flavors and aromas from the skins to the juice. Then a low-temperature fermentation takes place (60°F) to preserve the aromas.

A “reverse osmosis” process removes alcohol from the finished wine. Through this process, aroma compounds are filtered out and preserved before the alcohol is removed by distillation.

Since all the aromatic and nutritive components are not exposed to the heat and turbulence caused by the distillation, this method allows for the wines’ integrity to remain intact, the company says, maintaining the original wine bouquet, character, color and flavors.

Animal-derived products are not used in the process, making it a vegan-friendly wine. No additional sugars or juice are added. The effervescence is adjusted before bottling.

The suggested retail price is $14.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
