Known for its peaty profile and cask explorations, Port Charlotte has launched its latest single malt Scotch: Port Charlotte PAC: 01.
This classic, Islay-based brand now operates under the umbrella of Bruichladdich Distillery. Port Charlotte PAC: 01 is a heavily peated single malt aged in French oak red wine casks from the Pauillac region of Bordeaux.
The liquid rested for a minimum of six years. This includes two parcels: One aged in first-fill American whiskey casks for six years before two years of finishing in the Pauillac barrels. The other parcel aged in American whiskey casks for seven years before the same amount of finish time in the former French red wine barrels.
The result is a single malt with a full-bodied balance of barbecue smoke and berry flavors, the company reports.
Port Charlotte PAC: 01 is now available in the U.S. for a suggested retail price of $129.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
This new release replaces the Port Charlotte OLC (Oloroso sherry cask) that came out earlier this year.
