The Macallan has released Double Cask 15 Years Old and Double Cask 18 Years Old in an expansion of the range.
Joining Double Cask 12 Years Old , these three expressions showcase American- and European sherry-seasoned casks.
“We are proud to offer two new expressions to this distinctive range for The Macallan Double Cask fans to explore,” says Kirsteen Campbell, master whisky maker at The Macallan. “Oak influence is the single greatest contributor to the quality, natural color and distinctive aromas and flavors at the heart of The Macallan’s single malts.”
The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old will be available globally starting in July 2020. The suggested retail price is $135 per 750-ml. bottle for the 15 Years Old, and $330 for the 18 Years Old.
The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old has aromas of dried fruits, toffee and vanilla, the company says, with oak and baked apple balanced by notes of honey and chocolate. On the palate is sweet raisin and sultana with hints of vanilla, wood spice and citrus.
The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old has aromas of dried fruits, ginger and toffee with orange and hints of clove with nutmeg, the company reports. On the palate you’ll find raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and citrus.
Both whiskies are 43% ABV.
The journey of producing both expressions was captured for the brand by Magnum photographer, Steve McCurry.
