With on-premise St. Patrick’s Day celebrations cancelled in most markets due to concerns about the covid-19 outbreak, and the bartending community facing rough road ahead, Irish whiskey brand Jameson is pledging $500,000 to support the charity of the U.S. Bartenders’ Guild.
The Pernod Ricard brand says it wants to stand behind the people that helped build Jameson: its neighborhood bartenders. What’s more, Jameson will match donations made to this website up to an additional $100,000 until March 31, 2020.
The USBG Charity Foundation, founded in 2014, provides fundraising efforts to individuals in the bar community such as bartenders and bar backs. Bartenders submit the application, which is secure and will be vetted by trained staff. Determination of need is evaluated by a separate panel of volunteers and applications that meet the requirements will be approved within four to six weeks given the situation.
