If you didn’t know it, Jan. 31 is National Hot Chocolate Day. To celebrate the day in decadence, PHD Terrace a year-round rooftop bar in New York, is launching a new edition of its 15 Pound “Cup of Flaming Red Velvet” Hot Chocolate.
The over-the-top boozy beverage melds the rich flavors of red velvet with Valrhona dark chocolate and warming bourbon. Giant toasted marshmallows with winter-inspired decals float freely in the drink, which is served with a tower of mini homemade cupcakes and a spoonful of homemade frosting; the shareable sip is torched into flames tableside.
Created by corporate pastry Chef Paola Marocchi, the new Spiked Hot Cocoa follows last year’s 20 Pound Spiked Hot Cocoa. The 15 pounder, which is priced at $125 and serves 10 people, is available Jan. 31 through the month of February.
