Nouaison is a grape-based gin from Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, master distiller and founder of G’Vine.
The grape-base spirit, made in Cognac, France, is blended with a combination of 14 botanicals: juniper berries, ginger, cardamom, liquorice, lime, cassia bark, coriander, nutmeg, nouaison berries, bergamot, java pepper, sandalwood, vetivera and plum.
“Nouaison” means “setting” and represents the metamorphosis of the grape from vine flower to luscious grape berry, the company says. Nouaison was created with classic cocktails in mind, with a profile that’s floral, fruity, herbal wood and spicy.
The gin is bottled at 45% ABV, both to allow the spicy character and the grape softness to stand out and offer bar professionals higher proof alcohols for balance in their creations, the company says.
The final distillation is completed using a discontinuous 25HL pot still.
The suggested retail price is $54 per 750-ml. bottle.
