Lambay Irish Whiskeys

01/16/2018

by: The Staff

CIL US Wines & Spirits, the American subsidiary of Camus Wines & Spirits, has expanded its U.S. portfolio with the release of Lambay Irish Whiskeys.

These new expressions will be released in the U.S. during the first quarter of 2018. The brand is a collaboration between cognac-producer Camus and the Baring Family’s Revelstoke Trust. The portfolio includes:

Lambay Irish Whiskey Small Batch Blend: Malted, un-malted barley and grain whiskeys, blended, triple distilled and matured in bourbon barrels with a Cognac cask finish, exposed to the sea air. The nose is floral, citrus and lingering spiciness, the company says, before flavors of cracked almonds, pepper, malt, and floral notes. The suggested retail price is $30-35 per 750-ml. bottle.

Lambay Irish Whiskey Single Malt: An unpeated whiskey, triple distilled and finished in selected French Oak Cognac casks that have been exposed to the sea air and maritime winds on Lambay Island. On the nose are malt, green fruit, floral notes, and ripe bananas, the company reports, while the palate contains coconut, malt, and dried berries. The suggested retail price is $65-$70 per 750-ml. bottle.

The brand name comes from Lambay Island, a wildlife sanctuary located off the east coast of Ireland, owned by the Baring Family since 1904. “Lambay Island, which has been dear to our family for decades, offers a unique maritime microclimate which is perfect to adding a distinctive finish to this new range of whiskies we are crafting with the Camus family,” says Alexander Baring, 7th Baron of Revelstoke.
