In line with the upcoming movie Blade Runner 2049 (in theaters this October) Johnnie Walker has unveiled Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut.
This limited-edition whisky was created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Jim Beveridge in collaboration with filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. In making the expression, Jim joined Denis and spent time exploring the “characteristic building blocks of flavor behind classic Johnnie Walker blends,” the company says.
Johnnie Walker Black Label is the blueprint for this experimental blend. The whisky is 49% ABV, for added intensity and as a nod to the futuristic period in which Blade Runner 2049 is set.
The whisky is housed in a futuristic bottle, inspired by the Johnnie Walker Black Label prop from the original Blade Runner film. You can learn more about the inspiration behind the bottle from Director Denis Villeneuve in this video.
Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut is a dark, rich, smooth blend, the company reports, with clouds of smokiness and a touch of femininity.
The suggested retail price is $89.99 per 750-ml. bottle. A total of 39,000 bottles will be available in 15 countries around the world while supplies last.
