Cape Classics Adds Burgundian Producer Domaine Auvigue To Portfolio

03/20/2017

by: Kyle Swartz

Cape Classics this spring will add another Burgundian producer to its French book.

Domaine Auvigue will join the portfolio that includes Philippe Pacalet and Domaine Philippe Colin. In the 19th century, the family settled in village of Solutré where today, the 16.25-acre estate is run by the sixth-generation, Jean-Pierre and Michel Auvigue, and their nephew, Sylvain Brenas-Auvigue.

“The brothers make it a point to work with grapes that are not excessively ripe,” the company says in a press release, “ensuring that wines are pure and delicate with floral aromatics and a solid mineral edge.”

While Cape Classics continues to foster its South African portfolio in the U.S., it remains equally focused on building a presence in the French wine market, the company says.

“We have approached our expansion in France in the same way we did in South Africa 25 years ago—thoughtfully, and by prioritizing family and long-term partnerships over margins and profits,” says Rob Bradshaw, president and COO of Cape Classics, in a press release.

Cape Classics will welcome the following wines into their portfolio this spring:

  • Saint Veran Moulin du Point 2015 ($29.99)

Domaine Auvigue enters the portfolio as Cape Classics’ 15th French producer.
