Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire founder/chairman/CEO of Houston-based chain operator Landry’s, is buying New York restaurant group BR Guest from Starwood Capital Group, according to published reports. The deal will add nearly two dozen restaurants to Landry’s hospitality empire.
BR Guest operates nearly 25 restaurants in four states, including 15 in Manhattan. Brands include Bill’s Bar & Burger, Strip House, Dos Caminos and Blue Water Grill. Landry’s brands include the Golden Nugget hotels and casinos and restaurant chains Claim Jumper, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Mitchell’s Fish Market and Saltgrass Steakhouse.
Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in December, were not disclosed. In addition to running Landry’s, Fertitta is the host of CNBC reality show Billion Dollar Buyer, on which he advises startup companies and aspiring entrepreneurs.
