Angel’s Envy Cask Strength 2016

10/20/2016

by: Kyle Swartz

Louisville Distilling Company has announced a limited-edition release of the Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Finished in Port Wine Barrels.

The expression is now available in select markets: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MI, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, and Washington, DC.

Angel’s Envy whiskey is aged up to seven years. A few of those barrels are selected for their quality, blended and then receive a lengthier finishing process in Portuguese port wine casks.

The suggested retail price for a 750-ml. bottle is $179.99, which may vary by market. Each year, the proof varies based on the barrels selected. The 2016 release is 124.6-proof or 62.3% ABV. Consumers may want to consider sipping Cask Strength with a dash of water to release some of the deeper flavor nuances, the company says.

Cask Strength has aromas of rose petals, fruitcake, fresh strawberries, cracked black peppercorns and clove, the company reports. Flavors include caramel coffee, dried fig, aged tobacco and toasted sourdough bread.

This whiskey is now available. Only 8,000 bottles were released. Previous releases have all quickly sold out.
