Phillips Distilling Company announced today the addition of La Hechicera aged rum to its portfolio of brands.
Produced by Casa Santana — a privately owned, family-run distillery in Colobia — La Hechicera is a blend of rums aged 12-21 years.
As part of the new partnership, Phillips Distilling will be responsible for all North American distribution and marketing initiatives.
“Our partnership with La Hechicera will allow us to diversify our portfolio with an ultra-premium offering in a high growth and exciting category,” says Mike Duggan, CEO at Phillips Distilling Company. “We are excited to add a new member to our family of brands and are confident that our experience growing small-batch and premium spirits will be instrumental in launching La Hechicera in the North American market. We are eager to tell its story and foster a loyal consumer following.”
For three generations, the Riascos family has been creating rums using the solera method and ageing the blend of mature rums in American white oak barrels. After aging, the rum is placed directly into the bottle, without additives.
“We are currently executing an aggressive growth strategy to distribute La Hechicera,” says Miguel Riascos De Castro, founder and president of La Hechicera Company. “The North American market is extremely important to La Hechicera and we are fortunate to have found a great partner in Phillips Distilling Company—who shares the same family values, history and approach—to introduce and build our brand in the market.”
Since its international rollout in 2013, La Hechicera has gained presence and distribution in 15 markets, including the U.K., Japan and France. Phillips Distilling Company will focus marketing and distribution activities initially in select markets, including Boston, Chicago, Portland, Oregon, Austin, Texas, and Denver.
A 750-ml. bottle retails for $44.99.
