The Highland single malt scotch whisky brand anCnoc has announced a partnership with fashion designer Patrick Grant on a new release called anCnoc blas.
The Scottish-born designer — who serves as the creative director of Savile Row tailors, Norton & Sons and luxury menswear label E. Tautz — spent time at the anCnoc distillery to learn about the production of blas and “take inspiration from the sights, sounds and passions of Knockdhu,” the company says.
He then designed a print, bottle label and packaging that incorporated these elements.
As for the whisky: blas, which means “taste” in Gaelic, was 50% matured in dechar rechar American oak and 50% in first-fill Spanish ex-Oloroso casks. It is golden and honeyed in color. The nose is sweet and fruity with notes of lemon and candied orange peels, followed by bitter chocolate and vanilla. It’s full-bodied at 108 proof, and oily upon the palate, with strong honeyed notes.
The suggested retail price is $75 per 750-ml. bottle.
