Irish alcohol is more than just beer and whiskey.
Poitin — pronounced ‘put-cheen’, and named after the small pot stills its made in — is Ireland’s answer to American moonshine. It’s traditionally distilled from malted barley, grain, treacle, sugar or potatoes
Mad March Hare has released a new Poitin. Distilled in a copper pot still using malted barley, Mad March Hare is an 80-proof spirit.
“With the U.S. market accounting for approximately 36% of Irish whiskey sales, and craft spirits continuously growing in popularity, we feel it is the perfect opportunity to introduce the U.S. consumer to the ancient craft of Irish poitin,” said John Ralph, Co-Founder, Mad March Imports, in a press release.
Mad March Hare will be launching in on- and off-premise accounts in California, Massachusetts, Illinois and New York in February 2016, and Connecticut in March 2016, at a suggested retail price of $24.99 per 750-ml bottle. Enjoy Mad March Hare over ice or with a simple mix, such as ginger ale or soda.
