In honor of Memorial Day, Budweiser and Tilted Kilt are kicking off their 5th annual military fundraising program, “Here’s to Heroes,” May 25 – July 4.
The fundraiser is designed to raise money for Folds of Honor, which seeks to provide educational scholarships to family members and dependents of fallen or injured soldiers.
For a six-week period, Tilted Kilt guests are given opportunity to purchase $1 or $5 paper dog tags to be personally customized and displayed on the pub walls. Additionally, for $10 guests can purchase collectable Tilted Kilt, Folds of Honor, Budweiser glassware, with all proceeds benefitting Folds of Honor.
Last year, Tilted Kilt independently raised $115,000, according to a press release. In addition, Anheuser-Busch contributed $10,000 to make the total donation more than $125,000, increasing the previous year’s donation by $50,000.
With 100 pubs and a strengthened partnership with Anheuser-Busch and the Folds of Honor, Tilted Kilt has set its donation goal even higher for 2015, hoping to contribute $150,000.
Of the one million-plus dependents adversely affected by deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, nearly nine out of 10 do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor seeks to meet this need by providing education scholarships to the military families of those who have been killed or disabled while in active duty. Since its founding in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 7,500 scholarships, including more than 2,000 in 2014 alone.
