The winery received the award from The Procurement Leaders for its Corporate Social Responsibility program. From the press release:

MODESTO, Calif., June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The E. & J. Gallo Winery was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Procurement Leaders, a global network serving procurement and supply chain executives representing more than 650 major corporations.

Gallo was recognized for its cross-functional Corporate Social Responsibility program, which is considered to be among the best in the world.

“We are honored to be recognized for our contributions towards more responsible energy usage,” said Rob Donoho, Vice President Global Sourcing E. & J. Gallo Winery.  He added, “Being a family-owned company, we have a long legacy of sustainable practices, from our vineyard operations through production and distribution of our products.”

The Winery’s sustainability program was acknowledged for its consistent contribution to producing positive impacts on the environment through better energy and water management practices.  In recent years, E. & J. Gallo Winery has reduced its energy consumption by 10% while supporting substantial increases in sales volume. This is a result of cross-functional collaboration between operations, engineering and finance within Gallo along with outside partnerships with key energy providers.  Since 2010, Gallo has installed 2.1 megawatts of energy production through solar installations and waste recovery programs.
