Oscar-worthy Cocktail Recipes

A few drink recipes to consider for celebrating Hollywood’s big night.

This Sunday marks the 86th Academy Awards. Whether your hosting or attending a Oscars party, or relaxing at home in your pajamas, a specialty cocktail always makes it more fun. Here are a few to consider.


 


The Red Carpet Cooler
1 part of Sauza Blue 100% Agave Silver tequila
½ part DeKuyper 03 Premium orange liqueur
3 parts Cran-raspberry juice
1½ parts Lemon-lime soda
½ tbsp. Sanding sugar


Combine all ingredients in a pitcher filled with ice. Run a lime wedge around half the lip of a rocks glass and dip in sanding sugar to rim and fill with ice. Pour mixture into each glass, and garnish with a lime wedge.

The Golden Envelope
3 oz. Tanduay Gold Asian rum
½ oz. Dry vermouth
½ oz. Sweet vermouth


Shake all ingredients with cracked ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon and serve.

Hot, Hot Hustle
1½ parts Basil Hayden’s Bourbon 
¾ parts Fresh lime juice
1 slice Jalapeno
1 part Pomegranate juice
½ part Simple syrup
Splash of soda water


Muddle lime juice, jalapeno, pomegranate juice and simple syrup in a mixing tin. Add Bourbon and shake lightly for 5 seconds. Strain into a Collins glass, add ice and top with soda water. Garnish with a lime wheel and pomegranate seeds.

Money Hungry
2 parts Basil Hayden’s Bourbon
1 Serrano pepper (or jalapeño pepper)
¾ parts Simple syrup
¾ parts Lime juice
5 Blackberries


Muddle pepper and blackberries in a mixing glass. Add remaining ingredients with ice and shake. Fine strain into a Martini glass. Light small orange peel on fire and drop into the glass.

L’Amour Moderne
2 ½ parts Grey Goose Le Citron vodka
2 parts Fresh pomegranate juice
1 part Fresh pink grapefruit juice
1 part Bitter Italian aperitif
1 part Passion fruit syrup
¼ part Fresh lime juice


Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and double strain into a futuristic-style Martini glass. Garnish with orange zest.

The Cosmonaut
2 parts Grey Goose Le Poire vodka
1 part Fresh lime juice
¾ parts Ginger liqueur
1 dash Cardamom bitters


Build over a large ice sphere in a spherical rocks glass. Garnish with space-candy dusted grape.

Lower East Side
1 part Grey Goose L’Orange vodka
2 parts Freshly squeezed blood orange juice
1 bar spoon Orange flavor cognac liqueur
1 drizzle of Aged balsamic vinegar


Build the vodka and blood orange juice, then float the liqueurs on top. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and a drizzle of aged balsamic.
