Scene: Florida Ritz Goes Local With Jack Dusty
By Amy Sherman
The Ritz Carlton Sarasota’s new concept Jack Dusty, which opened in January, can be described in two words: local and casual. The theme is nautical, fitting the Florida waterfront setting, and the drinks menu features a large selection of rums and specialty cocktails.
3 oz. Purity vodka
1 Sugar cube
Peach bitters
Angostura bitters
Muddle bittered sugar cube*, add vodka and muddle again. Add ice and stir until sugar is dissolved. Garnish with peach skin and sour cherry.
* Place a cocktail napkin with a sugar cube on top over an old-fashioned (rocks) glass. Simultaneously drip peach and Angostura bitters onto the sugar cube until they bleed into the napkin. When liquid is all absorbed into the napkin, drop sugar cube into glass and wipe the rim of the glass with the bitters-soaked napkin and discard.
The mixologists at Purity vodka submitted this recipe.

A Taste of “Brangelina’s” Rosé
Melissa Dowling
I was surprised to see the 2012 Miraval Rosé advertised on sale at a local shop. After all, the wine-made at the Provence estate of movie star couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-sold out in hours when the first 6,000 bottles were released in March. So of course I had to buy a bottle.
