With their centuries of brewing experience, worldwide reputations and global distribution networks, import brands still command prestige in the U.S. beer market today. There is also a craft scene emerging overseas inspired by the success of the microbrew movement on this side of the Pond. There are plenty of on-premise opportunities tailor-made for the import category, and customers are willing to pay more for premium beers of the world.
4 oz. Chilled Ruffino prosecco
1 Lime wedge
Peel cucumber and puree in blender. Strain cucumber juice into glasses. Top off with prosecco, finish with a dash of hot sauce and a pinch of salt. Gently stir to combine, garnish with lime.

Devotion Spirits announced the release of a new premium sugar-free and gluten-free flavored vodka line, which includes Blood Orange, Black and Blue and The Perfect Cosmo. The flavors, which join the company’s original vodka, are distilled at the company’s headquarters in Middleton, WI and available for a suggested retail price of $19.99 for a 750-ml. bottle.
Crown Royal Maple Finished
Crown Royal’s first flavored whisky, Maple Finished, is now available at a suggested retail price of $24.99. It’s created by adding a touch of maple flavor to original Crown Royal whisky through a proprietary maple toasted oak finishing process. The 80-proof whisky includes a bouquet of light, fresh maple combined with the signature caramel and vanilla nose, according to the company.
I recently stayed at hotel that was trying to ramp up to be a luxury property. This property was on California’s Sonoma Coast, where it poured rain all weekend–as it often does. Unfortunately for the guests, no umbrellas were left in the rooms and no staff members were available to walk guests to their cars or the dining room.
