Choosing the right wine for a particular meal is a hot topic, but some folks may find the process intimidating, or they just don’t want to think about pairing. That’s why some sommeliers focus on pairing the right wine with the right person rather than the dish.
But some experts say there are a few wines that would work with most types of food. The attributes of these wines include moderate alcohol, moderate to high acidity, soft tannins and little or no oak.
Another tip from a sommelier: Look for red wines that you can see through, such as Gamay and Pinot Noir. There are versatile white wines as well, such as Pinot Gris and Chenin Blancs.
