STUDENT WINNER ANNOUNCED FOR D.D. WILLIAMSON’S BEVERAGE COLORING COMPETITION
D.D. Williamson congratulates Pui Yeu (Rei) Phoon, a graduate student in Food Science at Purdue University, for winning its first, annual Beverage Coloring Competition for Students. The winning entry is a citrus-flavored beverage fortified with beta-carotene, a bioactive lipid antioxidant that contributes both Vitamin A and coloring. The system used to deliver the beta-carotene is the novelty of the beverage.
Ms. Phoon’s award is a trip to the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Meeting, June 11-15 in New Orleans. D.D. Williamson will display her winning poster at IFT Food Expo. You can meet Ms. Phoon to discuss her novel application on Monday June 13th, 1:00 to 2:00 PM, at booth 4429.
Ms. Phoon wishes to acknowledge and thank her Purdue advisors, Professors San Martin and Narsimhan, for inspiring her to enter the student competition. D.D. Williamson invites IFT Student Association members to submit abstracts in November for the 2011-12 Beverage Coloring Competition.
