Typically, when I am not drinking copitas full of mezcal, I’m drinking whatever unique wines I can find. Wine and mezcal are similar in so many ways, so in my mind this makes only too much sense.
The best places to find these rare wines in the DC area are Maxwell and Red Hen. I usually gravitate towards orange wine, something that was introduced to me at Compass Rose Bar + Kitchen. One of my favorites is Tsarapi 100% Rkatsiteli from Kakheti in Georgia.
